Lucy Nace, program director, founded ESL on the Go in January of 2021. She has been actively involved in her local Latin American community in Wilmington, Delaware since 2019. Through her work, she identified significant demand from Spanish-speaking adults for more accessible ESL lesson options. In the fall of 2020, while participating in the University of Pennsylvania’s Social Innovators Program, she addressed this demand by developing a theoretical business model for ESL on the Go. The strong demand from Spanish speakers and ample volunteers allowed her to formally launch the organization at the end of the entrepreneurship program.
